Happy #MusicMonday to all of my wonderful blog readers and social media followers! I love every single one of Dan + Shay's songs for different reasons, and can never choose a favorite! This is where my blog readers and Instagram followers come in to make the very difficult decision of picking your favorite song of the three I provide each week!

Dan + Shay reminisce and sing first verse of Rascal Flatts' hit "These Days" at country radio station Froggy Pittsburgh in early days as a duo

If you followed along with my blog in 2025, you may remember my posts commenting on the other artists who the duo covered in short videos back in 2016 and 2017 while on long stretches of their tour. They covered many country music artists from Brett Eldredge and David Nail, to Rascal Flatts, Hunter Hayes, and others! I have also written about covers they did while at various radio station studios across the country.

While I was searching on YouTube today to find a video to write about, I came across this one that I do not think I had seen before. Just when I thought I had seen every Dan + Shay video on their channel and beyond, I found one that I had not viewed before!

This specific clip was posted on November 18, 2013, just over 11 months from the time that Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney met one another for the first time! Mooney tells disc jockey Melissa Ann at country radio station Froggy Pittsburgh about the first time he heard a Rascal Flatts song on the radio when driving around with his sister. At the time, he had no idea who was singing the song "These Days"

After he was done reminiscing, the duo started singing the first verse of Rascal Flatts' early hit "These Days". I always enjoy hearing Smyers play his guitar, and in this video, you can hear his harmonies, which were incredibly strong, even in the very early days of Dan + Shay. Mooney's vocals on the first verse blew me away as well. They left me wanting to hear more of this song, especially one round of the chorus. I hope they post a full cover of this song in the near future!

#SelfieSaturday featuring Shay Mooney, his wife Hannah, and their precious son Asher cheesing for the camera

Today is #SelfieSaturday and I am featuring this picture of Shay Mooney back when he was a dad of one son! Cheesing big with his wife Hannah and handsome, precious son Asher who was 21 months old at the time, this looked like a very happy day for the Mooney family! 😀 📷

Posted via his official Instagram account on October 30, 2018, the Dan + Shay lead vocalist wrote beneath the photo, "Thankful for the little moments like these @hannah.billingsley."

I love that both Shay and Hannah continue to post pictures and videos of their family of six (that total includes mom and dad!)! It is fun to get a glimpse into the life of a family with four boys, five including Shay! 💙

I cannot say it enough in this type of post how excited I am to hear more new Dan + Shay music and listen to how Shay incorporates his wife and boys into the lyrics! These new songs are going to be incredibly special! I cannot wait to write about them on my blog!

Dan + Shay added to star-studded list of performers at 61st annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, #FlashbackFriday to their "Tequila" performance on the telecast last year

The second round of artists who will perform at the 61st annual Academy of Country Music Award in Las Vegas on May 17 were announced via the award show's Instagram account and website this afternoon. Country music duo Dan + Shay were added to the list alongside Blake Shelton, Kane Brown, and others! I anticipate that they will be performing their new single "Say So" during the telecast that can be seen exclusively on the Amazon Prime Video app. In addition to taking the stage that night, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney will find out if they take home the trophy for Duo of the Year.

While we wait for the award show to take place, I will leave this #FlashbackFriday video here for my readers to enjoy. At the 2025 show that celebrate its 60th anniversary, Dan + Shay closed out the opening decade medley by singing part of their smash hit "Tequila" from 2018. It was an electric performance from start to finish, especially at the very end when Mooney held the last "yeah" not for what seemed like an eternity. Having heard him do that during multiple performances and listening to his vocal range on other songs like "Save Me The Trouble", Mooney is truly the most gifted vocalist that I have ever come across. I did not think it was possible, but he continues to get even better from album to album. I cannot wait to hear his incredible vocals on the duo's forthcoming sixth studio album.
