In this picture that was posted on the duos Instagram account on April 2, 2022, the guys took a break from making music to attend Shay Mooney's oldest son Asher's tee ball game. 😊📸This happy picture of Dan Smyers and Mooney posing with Asher was taken after the game, and they captioned the post, "part-time musicians, full time tee ball coaches ⚾."

#FlashbackFriday to this September, 2023 video of Dan + Shay announcing that the "Heartbreak On The Map Tour" tickets were officially on sale

I am taking it back to September 22, 2023 for today's #FlashbackFriday post. Dan + Shay had just released their Bigger Houses studio album on September 15. The next week it was time for their fans to be able to buy tickets to their Heartbreak On The Map Tour. "Heartbreak On The Map" is one of the 12 tracks featured on the duos fifth project and I think it was the perfect one to use to name the 2024 arena tour and the amphitheater tour that summer.

The video features Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney acoustically singing the first verse of the tune followed by Mooney telling the fans that they could buy their tickets now for the new tour. 

I am still patiently waiting for the guys to announce this highly anticipated new music and new tour for 2026. I bet there will be videos like this one associated with the new music and tour announcement. My new guess is that there will be some announcements coming in March! We will just have to continue to wait and see! 

As I have said in multiple recent posts, I will have their big news for all of my readers as soon as the duo makes their announcements! I hope it happens soon!

#ThrowbackThursday to this genuine picture of Dan + Shay hugging one another at 2017 CMA Fest (Country Music Association Fest) Performance

CMA Fest (Country Music Association Fest) is the largest country music festival in the world. It takes place in early June every year when fans from all over the globe flock to Nashville to see country music artists perform on multiple stages set up across the city, have the chance to meet their favorite artists, and get to participate in numerous other activities and events!

Dan + Shay have made numerous appearances at the festival over the years. #ThrowbackThursday to this genuine picture of the duo hugging one another during their set at Ascend Amphitheater on June 10, 2017 that they posted on their Instagram account the next day. The post, which included a collage of pictures, also had a caption about the duos experience playing in front of a huge group of country music fans.

"Ever since day one, our fans have been by our side," Dan + Shay began the caption. "Last night was living proof. We promise to never take a second of this journey for granted + to always remember how lucky we are to be a part of this country music family. All the love in the world."

The guys have been known to give one another a bear hug before accepting a trophy at award shows, after award show performances, and while they are performing on the road. Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney have formed such a beautiful friendship over the years. You can tell from the hugs and many other things they have done together and for their fans since their career started, that the bond they have formed is truly genuine and real.

It’s #WelcomeWednesday! Who would be your dream duet partner for Dan + Shay?

Dan + Shay have collaborated with some pretty incredible, extremely talented artists in their career so far. They invited pop star Kelly Clarkson to sing with them on “Keeping Score” from their self-titled album. The duo teamed up with country artist Carrie Underwood to cover “Only Us” from the Broadway show and movie Dear Evan Hansen. Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney even got to join pop star Charlie Puth on his song “That’s Not How This Works.” I could cite a handful of other examples.

For this week’s #WelcomeWednesday question, I want to know: Who is your dream collaboration partner(s) for Dan + Shay in the future?

Off the top of my head, I want the duo to collaborate with country artists Kelsea Ballerini and Megan Moroney and singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. As mentioned above, the guys collaborated with Carrie Underwood for the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack. While they sound amazing together on Only Us”, I want to hear them collaborate with her again, whether it is on one of Underwood’s future albums or on one of Smyers and Mooney’s future albums.

#SnapshotSunday to Dan Smyers' dinosaur themed birthday party on the road in August, 2024

Today's #SnapshotSunday features this fun picture from Dan + Shay's August 18, 2024 Instagram post of the guys wearing Hawaiian lei's and posing with a blow-up dinosaur! 

Dan Smyers celebrated his birthday on August 16, and he said in the Instagram caption that after the duo left the stage in Raleigh, North Carolina that night, he was treated to a surprise party thrown by his wife Abby and their manager Lisa Ray. 

Smyers wrote in the Instagram caption about his experience that night.

"Yes, there was a blow-up dinosaur," Smyers wrote. "I notoriously don't like attention, but I gotta say I'm so grateful to be surrounded by such incredible people - including our fans - who make me feel loved ever day. That's a special thing and I'll never take it for granted."

I love that Smyers and Mooney continue to share cool pictures and videos from their tour stops as well as heartfelt captions about each experience. From being a fan for over 11 years now, I know they truly enjoy playing live music for us, so every picture, video, and caption they post is incredibly real and genuine.

#SnapshotSaturday featuring Shay Mooney and his beautiful family

It is #SnapshotSaturday featuring this beautiful picture of Shay Mooney, his wife Hannah, and their three handsome sons (from left to right) Ames, Aubrey, Abram, and Asher dressed in their Sunday best! The picture was part of Hannah’s Instagram post captioned “Spring things ☘️” on April 7, 2025.

I cannot believe how big the Mooney boys are getting, especially Asher who turned nine in January! I have throughly enjoyed watching each of their handsome sons grow up via pictures and videos on social media!

While Shay Mooney was not a writer on the Dan + Shay song “Bigger Houses”, there is a line that says “I can hear the kids playing in the backyard through the kitchen window right there.” I know he was able to relate to that lyric by the passion he put into it when recording the track.

In addition to that meaningful song mentioning family, the duo debuted a new unreleased song called “Her, The Kids, and Jesus” at their La La Land Kind Cafe  pop-up show in Nashville last December! While they have not recorded the song yet, it is all about the importance of family!

I know Dan + Shay will also have some songs that mention family and Mooney’s kids on their upcoming sixth studio album! I cannot wait to listen to each song because I know the lyrics will be very visual and meaningful!

#FlashbackFriday to this genuine picture of Dan + Shay and Megan Moroney at the 2025 "American Music Awards"

#FlashbackFriday to the genuine picture below of Dan + Shay and current chart-topping country artist Megan Moroney behind them posing at the 2025 American Music Awards. The photo that duo added to their Instagram post on May 28, 2025, a day after the award ceremony took place, makes me smile every time I view it.

While the duo had this picture taken together last year, they have not collaborated on a song before. I hope they invite her to sing on one of their songs in the future because I think Shay Mooney and Moroney's voices would blend well together alongside Dan Smyers' harmonies! This collaboration could be coming on Dan + Shay's new music that they will be announcing soon, you just never know!

Moroney released her third studio album Cloud 9 today. After listening to it once through so far, I really enjoyed her vocals, creative lyrics throughout the project, and the production on each song. She is authentically herself, which is something I really appreciate. And there is no one else in country music that sounds like her. As I have written about in many of my previous blog posts, I also admire Dan + Shay for each of these reasons. Since I became a fan of the duo in 2014, I tend to draw myself in to artists who are similar to them, but who also doing their own thing.

#ThrowbackThursday to the Summer of 2016 When Dan Smyers made a dramatic hair color change

#ThrowbackThursday to the Summer of 2016 when Dan Smyers dyed his hair blond! The Dan + Shay harmonist decided to try something different at the time and I think he rocked it! His black hair was short for many years until curls started to form in the late 2010's! Smyers let it grow out, and for a handful of years, he had beautiful long, curly hair! Prior to the duo releasing their Bigger Houses album in September, 2023, he got a dramatic haircut and went back to the short hair look. However, he still has curly hair!

This awesome picture of Smyers rocking his blond hair and holding his guitar, and Shay Mooney putting two fingers up in the air while holding a drink with his other hand was posted on Dan + Shay's Instagram account on July 24, 2016. During that summer, the duo were openers on Darius Rucker's Good for a Good Time Tour.

#SnapshotSunday Featuring Dan + Shay And Their Talented Touring Crew

Today in my #SnapshotSunday series, I am featuring this awesome picture of Dan + Shay, their tour manager, and their talented road band members captioned "Fellas." that was posted on their Instagram account on August 5, 2017!

Shay Mooney is in the front row. From left to right behind the lead vocalist is the duos bass player Dustin Hook, guitarist Justin Richards, drummer Andrew Cook, keyboardist and other instruments Izaac Burkhart, Dan Smyers, and tour manager Michael Gonzales.

The duo have known all of their band members for many years and I can tell they are all really good friends. While their tour manager Gonzales has not know them as long, they are really good friends with him as well. This can be seen through the pictures and captions that Smyers and Mooney and their band members have shared on social media. From being a fan of Dan + Shay since 2014 and following them daily on social media, I can say that the guys and everyone on their team are even more than friends, they are one big family. I think that makes the whole experience even more fulfilling when you have that type of relationship with the people you work with on a daily basis.

Happy Valentine's Day To My Blog Readers! 💕

Happy Valentine's Day to my blog readers and social media followers! 💕

I will always remember and be incredibly grateful for my two Dan + Shay Valentine's Day surprises that happened in 2015 and 2021! 🩷

The duo completely surprised me with the most beautiful bouquet of flowers on February 14, 2015 that are featured in the first picture below. We heard our doorbell ring that evening. I was not expecting to receive anything that day. There was a delivery person with a huge bouquet of flowers. I opened the card inside; it was addressed to me from Dan + Shay! I could not stop smiling!

Fast forward to Valentine's Day, 2021 when Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney completely surprised me once again, but this time with a box of Krispy Kreme Donuts that are also featured below my commentary! They were delivered to our house! The receipt on the box said they were from Dan + Shay! I enjoyed a couple of them for breakfast that morning and more throughout the day! 

I cannot thank my favorite country music duo enough for those two amazing surprises and the other little things they have done for me over the years! They are the most caring, genuine, kind, and thoughtful country music artists! I will never forget Valentine's Day 2015 and 2021! I look back on both occasions each year with a huge smile on my face! 😀

#FlashbackFriday To Dan + Shay's 2024 Summer "Heartbreak On The Map Tour" Stop in Dan Smyers' Home State Of Pennsylvania

This #FlashbackFriday post takes us back to the first week of August, 2024! At the end of each weekend on their 2024 Heartbreak On The Map Tour, Dan Smyers took to Dan + Shay's social media accounts to detail each concert. During the summer portion of the tour, the duo made a stop in Smyers home state of Pennsylvania. 

He reminisced on what he and partner Shay Mooney did while in the Pittsburgh area, starting off with some baseball related activities where he mentioned a fellow country music artist.

"First we hit the diamond at PNC park for batting practice, but unlike @rileyduckman, no home runs were recorded," Smyers began the Pennsylvania portion of the Instagram post. "Shout out to the @pittsburghpirates for having us, best ballpark in America."

Then the duos producer wrote about the amphitheater that they headlined on August 2, 2024, sharing some memories from back when he would attend shows there.

"After that, we packed up and headed out to @thepavilionatstarlake in Burgettstown, where I grew up going to concerts," Smyers wrote. "I basically LIVED in that lawn.

Before the duo hit the stage that night, they enjoyed some activities at the venue.

"Summer camp was in full effect backstage with some golf, pickleball, cold beers, and beyond," the Wexford, PA native shared.

He ended the Burgettstown, Pennsylvania portion of the post by writing about the feeling of playing in front a crowd from his hometown. 

"The show itself was jam-packed with emotions and we could not be more grateful for the support this town has shown us," the Dan + Shay producer said. "There is nothing quite like coming back to the place you grew up and feeling that kind of love. Pittsburgh, from the bottom of my heart, thank you."

#ThrowbackThursday To Dan + Shay With Dan And Abby's Rescue Dogs On Their Tour Bus

Dan Smyers and his wife Abby have been known to take their dogs on the road with them when he is on tour with Shay Mooney. This #ThrowbackThursday picture from the duos Instagram account that was posted on September 16, 2017 is one instance when the couple's furry friends joined them on the cross country trek. With Smyers holding Ghost, Mooney petting Chief, and Joy hanging out on the couch behind the duo, this makes for a cuteness overload snapshot! 🐶🐶🐶

It has been fun for me to go back several years and find fun pictures like this one to post and write about! I hope all of my readers enjoy seeing them as well!

To get you pumped up prior the game, here is the music video for Dan + Shay’s anthem “Always Gonna Be”! The tune is about appreciating everything in life, including the little things. Stay tuned for a future post when I break down the entire track! One of the lyrics that relates to football is “tailgates falling down on a Friday.” This refers to the tailgate parties fans have in football stadium parking lots all over the country. These include hanging out, eating good food, and having some alcoholic beverages!

#SnapshotSaturday Featuring An Awesome Picture From Dan + Shay’s “Bigger Houses” Album Photo Shoot

When it comes to taking pictures together, whether it is at award shows, posing for album photo shoots, and every other opportunity they get in between, Dan + Shay always look very genuine and to me, they are both extremely photogenic! 😊📸

They posted this one to their Instagram account on August 16, 2023, one month before their Bigger Houses album was to be released. I love the whole scene of the duo sitting in a grassy field, both guys wearing jeans, with Dan Smyers sporting a denim shirt and Shay Mooney wearing a dark colored t-shirt. For the pose, Mooney is looking over his shoulder, while Dan Smyers is staring up at the sky.

I cannot wait to see more genuine album photo shoot pictures when Dan + Shay release their sixth studio album at some point in the first half of 2026!

#FlashbackFriday To When Dan + Shay Won Fan Voted Award At “Peoples Choice Country Awards” Ceremony

I always love seeing Dan + Shay's genuine speeches after they have won many awards as well as reading their genuine social media posts over the years, so today I am traveling back back to a special moment in 2024 for my #FlashBackFriday post. After winning The Group/Duo 2024 trophy at the People's Choice Country Awards on September 26, 2024, Dan + Shay took to their Instagram account the next day to tell their fans what the honor meant to them. 

"This award is fan voted and we are so grateful that y'all stepped up for us in such a big way," the duo began their September 27, 2024 caption. "Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us, and everyone who made the Bigger Houses era our best yet."

After a very busy period in their careers of touring, coaching on The Voice, and more, the duo reflected on what it felt like to have an evening to attend the award show.

"We've been going nonstop since the beginning of the year, so getting to celebrate this moment with our beautiful wives and country music family felt extra special."

I love each of the genuine pictures they added to the post. The first one features Abby and Dan Smyers and Shay and Hannah Mooney posing in the audience. Next the happy duo are featured holding their trophy after the big win. The third picture of the guys hugging before they made their speech is my favorite. You can tell how genuine their embrace is. They are truly best friends as country music artists and outside the music business!

#ThrowbackThursday: Happy 10 Year Anniversary To Dan + Shay's Love Song "From The Ground Up"!

For this #ThrowbackThursday post, we go all the way back to February 5, 2016 when Dan + Shay released their love song "From The Ground Up" into the world! I cannot believe that was exactly 10 years ago today! I remember pondering in my head about what this song could be about prior to its release. When I heard it for the first time at midnight, I remember shedding a few tears because it was beautiful, honest, and heartfelt. The tune about what it would be like to build their lives together with their significant others, which eventually became the duos second number one hit at country radio, was inspired by both sets of their grandparents.

Happy 10th Birthday to Dan + Shay's first big love song at country radio! Here's to 10+ years of even more of the duos love songs like this one, "Speechless", and "For The Both Of Us", just to name a few! I can guarantee you there will be at least one (but probably more!) incredibly romantic song(s) on their yet-to-be-announced sixth studio album! 

It's #WelcomeWednesday! What Dan + Shay Song Is YOUR Favorite Jam? 😀🎵

Over the last eleven years, Dan + Shay have released some incredible songs that you can jam to, whether that means turning the volume up louder when it comes on or getting up to dance. These songs include "All To Myself", "Nothin' Like You", "Alone Together", and We Should Get Married".

While I love every single one of the duos jams, "Nothin' Like You" is still my favorite one to this day! It was the second song that I absolutely fell in love with on their Where It All Began album and it was their first number one song at country radio.

I remember hearing "Nothin' Like You" on the radio in 2015 as it climbed the country radio chart and a handful of years after. When the radio disc jockey announced that it was coming up or when I happened to randomly hear it, I would always quickly message my friend Tarin that NLY (our acronym for it) was either coming up on already on the radio. If she was available, she would tune in and we would listen together! 😀🎵 I miss those days and wish this positive song about loving someone for exactly who they are was still being played on country radio.

When Will Dan + Shay Be Announcing New Music? My Latest Prediction!

When Dan + Shay came back at the beginning of last October in a short video, they mentioned that there would be a lot of new music being released at the start of 2026. I truly thought that meant they would at least announce and put out their next single in January, but that did not happen. As a massive fan, I am trying to stay as patient as possible while the waiting continues. I know this extra long wait in between regular studio albums will be really worth it!

The duo have always been very good about keeping new music and tour announcements under wraps, which makes the waiting even harder. They have been known to hint at these things in social media posts, but you never know when the actual news will come until they make it official in a post. I am predicting that Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney will start sharing some exciting details with us in February, hopefully this week, but for sure by the end of the month!

I am beyond ready to hear what Dan + Shay have been working very hard on in the studio over the past year. I also cannot wait to write about the new songs, their next studio album, as well as details on the 2026 world tour they have hinted about on social media in the last few months. As soon as I find out about all of the exciting things the guys have coming up, I will be sharing them all with my wonderful readers!
