Dan + Shay give big update and post crazy, intense teaser clip for anticipated new single that has fans asking questions

After I woke up this morning, I saw that Dan + Shay added something new to their Facebook and Instagram story. I started to feel very excited that something massive was going to be announced soon! With a black background and white letters, it read, "TEXT 615-205-6550". I texted them immediately, but did not get a response. That is when I realized this message was for fans who had not texted the phone number before. The duo wanted new fans to get opted in, and I had a feeling they would be sharing some news via that platform later today or in the next few days.

At 12:00 PM EDT, I received a text from the Dan + Shay fan phone number. They sent a zoomed-in picture of Shay Mooney's face. There is a tear falling down the left side of his face and he looks very upset about something. I already had questions after viewing the picture. Based on what I saw in the picture, I wondered, is the new song going to be a sad ballad? Or is this only a small glimpse of what is to come and the new single will be upbeat?

The text below it read, "Hi! We are posting something exciting at NOON CT today, but wanted to give you an early sneak peek. Stay tuned to our socials to find out more. 👀"

One hour later, Dan + Shay posted the most crazy, cinematic, dramatic, emotional, and intense 17 second teaser clip that I have seen in their career so far. At the end, it is revealed that the fans will find out more at 11:00 PM CST on Thursday! I know we will hear the new single and potentially see the music video.

Stay tuned for my post on Wednesday when I will share the clip and break down what I think is happening in it. I definitely have a lot of questions and I am sure my readers will too! I will also share my thoughts on a note that Dan Smyers shared on social media on Tuesday. Let me just say, Thursday cannot get here soon enough!

It's Dan + Shay #MusicMonday: Songs that the duo did not write. Which one is your favorite? Please let me know in my poll!

Happy #MusicMonday to all of my wonderful blog and social media followers! 🥳🎉🎵

Did you know that Dan + Shay wrote the majority of the songs on their first five studio albums? On some of their previous songs like "Save Me The Trouble" and "From The Ground Up", Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney both had a hand in writing them alongside some other talented Nashville songwriters.  However, when it came to the duos latest number one "Bigger Houses", Smyers was a co-writer with his songwriting friends Andy Albert and Jordan Minton. And when it came to the duos song "My Side Of The Fence" (from their 2018 self-titled album), Mooney was a co-writer with his songwriting friend Benjy Davis. I can always feel Dan + Shay's hearts and souls in each song that they did write, from the lyrics to the production, and beyond.

While at least one member of the duo or both of them have had a hand in writing the majority of their songs, there are a few of them scattered on their second, third, and fifth albums that they did not pen. Even though they did not write them, it sure feels like they did. Listening to these songs over the years, I could tell that Dan + Shay spent a lot time picking songs that they could relate to and make their own.

Stay tuned for future posts with details about each of these unique tracks, including the incredibly, talented songwriters who penned them!

Your choices are listed below. These are the four songs that the duo did not have a hand in writing!

A) "How Not To" 🎵

B) "All Nighter" 🎵

C) "What Keeps You Up At Night" 🎵

D) "Missing Someone" 🎵

**I want to see as many votes as possible!!! 😊🎵**

There are two ways that you can cast your vote! You can either:

1) Take a few moments to listen to each song via the YouTube clips below and then cast your vote with A, B, or C in the comment section of this blog post.

OR

2) Listen to the song clips in my @dailydashofdanandshay Instagram story and cast your vote in my poll on the last slide that will be up until tomorrow at 6:30 pm EDT! Dan + Shay pump fans up for round two of the 2015 Where It All Began Tour via a YouTube trailer clip

When it comes to making videos to promote one of their tours or creating several of the duos music videos over the years, just to give you an idea of some examples, Dan Smyers' extremely creative and longtime friend Patrick Tracy has been involved in different areas with many of the clips over the years. Stay tuned for future posts about those!

I am not 100% sure and could not find any details about the people who worked on it behind the scenes, but I think Tracy was one of the talented people involved in editing this "Dan + Shay - Where It All Began Tour 2015 (Trailer)" YouTube video that you can find at the end of my post.

The cinematic trailer opens with a shot of an empty venue with the stage lights going crazy, followed by a look at some of the crowds who attended the 2014 leg of the duos Where It All Began Tour. Next, Dan Smyers, Shay Mooney and their band are all seen putting their hands in during a pre-show ritual before hitting the stage. The guys are now putting their earpieces in and heading up the stairs to the stage.

In dramatic fashion as if you are watching a trailer for a motion picture, the title of the tour is put up on the screen one word at a time. You can hear a suspenseful sound made after each word comes up in the video.

Dan + Shay's drummer Andrew Cook appears, hitting his drums and their song "Somewhere Only We Know" begins to play in the background. Many exciting highlights from the 2014 edition of the tour are exhibited. Those are followed by all of the dates and cities where fans could see the guys on the 2015 leg of their first headlining tour, and ends with some cool shots of the duo, and a link to their website to purchase tickets.

I got the opportunity to see the duo on the first leg of the Where It All Began Tour in 2014, which also had an announcement video that I will profile in an upcoming post. I think it may be because I had not seen the 2015 tour trailer in 10+ years, but when I watched it today to write this post, it felt brand new to me, like I had not seen it before!

I am expecting Smyers and Mooney to announce their 2026 tour plans in the next few weeks. They have not done a trailer for a tour in many years, but I hope there will be one for this new tour! Based on how long we have been waiting for the new music and the tour news, I am guessing they have put something big together for the tour announcement. We will all have to wait and see, and I will share the new music and tour news with you as soon as it hits social media!

Here is the "Dan + Shay - Where It All Began Tour 2015 (Trailer)" YouTube video for you to enjoy courtesy of the duos YouTube channel!

Dan + Shay get dream opportunity to duet with country music superstar Keith Urban on his hit "Tonight I Wanna Cry" twice during his 2015 summer tour

Can you imagine what it would be like to get the opportunity to duet with an artist you have looked up to for a long time? For me, that would be an absolute dream come true.

Over the last 10+ years, Dan + Shay have collaborated with several country artists and singers from other genres as well, whether it was on a record or onstage at a concert or award show.

Early on in their career in the summer of 2015, one of the duos dreams came true when they got the chance to sing with country music superstar Keith Urban. Before their respective sets at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 26, 2015, the seasoned artist invited Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney aboard his tour bus to sing an acoustic version of his hit power ballad "Tonight I Wanna Cry". In the video from Dan + Shay's YouTube channel, Urban started to give a passionate performance of the song's first verse with his signature vocals and excellent guitar playing. Smyers and Mooney sat on the couch across from him, listening intently, waiting to join in. Dan + Shay's voices entered the tune at the chorus, backing up Urban's lead vocals with their beautiful harmonies.

Next, the video transitioned to show Urban on the stage at Summerfest performing for the massive crowd. After that, footage of Dan + Shay and their band getting ready to perform is featured. In the last section of the clip, Dan + Shay headed to the stage to join the Australian-born superstar to sing "Tonight I Wanna Cry" during his headlining set at the major Wisconsin summer music festival.

Mooney showed off his impressive vocal range during the chorus of "Tonight I Wanna Cry", followed by Smyers and Urban joining back in to finish the performance. After they sang the last note the crowd was heard cheering, screaming, and applauding for the trio.

I had not watched this clip in a long time. After revisiting it today, I definitely hope there will be a Keith Urban and Dan + Shay collaboration in the future because to me, while their voices are very different, they happen to blend extremely well together.

Please enjoy the tour bus and onstage performance of "I Wanna Cry" courtesy of Dan + Shay's YouTube channel!

#FlashbackFriday to a cute picture of Dan and Abby Smyers' photogenic dog crew

Dan and Abby Smyers have been huge advocates for animal rescue and adoption ever since they met well over ten years ago. If you have read my past posts, I have written a handful of them about the couple's four rescue dogs since I started my blog.

Today's #FlashbackFriday post is a cute picture of their four current dogs. They rescued Joy (back row) first, followed by Chief (front right), Ghost (back left) , and Macaroni (nicknamed Mac - front middle). In Abby Smyers' February 5, 2024 Instagram photo collage titled "The sweet stuff. ❤️”, the ninth picture in the sequence features all four of their photogenic companions looking at her, with Chief jumping up on her leg. Smyers was either giving her crew treats or they were begging for what she was eating. The look on each of their faces are priceless

Each of their dogs has their own personality. It always makes me smile really big when either Abby or Dan posts about their crew on social media. Stay tuned for plenty more posts about their dogs as well as their work with animal rescue over the years!

#ThrowbackThursday to "Where It All Began" for Dan + Shay in March, 2014

#ThrowbackThurday to 12 years ago this week when Dan + Shay's debut album Where It All Began was on Spotify to stream for free before its official release date on April 1! I cannot believe it's been over a decade since I became a fan of the duo! Time really flies when you're having fun! And I am more than ready to enter this fresh chapter with Dan + Shay as they begin to release new music very soon!

At the time, I had the free version of Spotify, so I would get commercials in between songs and see advertisements on the application. One of those advertisements I saw was that I could stream the album for free that last week of March.

I do not think I was following any of their accounts on social media until I listened to the project for the first time. However, as I was scrolling Instagram this week for gems from the start of Dan + Shay's career, I found this one about the project's early release for streaming that Dan Smyers shared on March 25, 2014 via his personal (Instagram) account.

Today's #ThrowbackThursday picture features Smyers with two copies of their album in his hand. His and girlfriend Abby's dogs at the time (Joy and Miller) are looking at him. He added a clever caption to the post!

"We have to wait one more week?", Smyers wrote from the perspective of the expression on his dogs faces. "Nope! Stream out ENTIRE album on @Spotify now!"

#SnapshotSunday featuring Shay and Hannah Mooney's precious son Abram on his second birthday

Shay and Hannah Mooney have been blessed with four sons, all of their names starting with the letter "A". For today's #SnapshotSunday post, I am featuring this precious picture from Hannah's Instagram collage post on January 17, 2025 when their second youngest son Abram turned two! He is smiling and has his left hand touching the piano keys. Mooney wrote a sweet caption for the post.

"Our baby is TWO 🥺," (Hannah) Mooney wrote. "Abram, you're the hambone of this family. And just like your daddy, you bring joy wherever you go."

She continued his birthday post, talking about her son's little personality.

"You are cheeky, mischievous, rough with those brothers, and never wanting to be left out," Mooney noted.

I have seen other pictures of Abram and his brothers being introduced to music by their dad over the years. I wonder if any of them will pursue music in one way or another like their incredibly talented father. We will all find out one day as they get older.

I cannot get enough of the pictures she and Shay post on social media of their four handsome boys. I will share plenty more of my favorites in upcoming posts!

#SnapshotSaturday featuring a picture from Dan and Abby Smyers' wedding on May 13, 2017

Abby Law officially became Abby Smyers when she married Dan Smyers on May 13, 2017 at a ceremony in Nashville, TN! Surrounded by their families, Dan + Shay band and crew members, including Shay Mooney, and friends, the happy couple shared many posts and pictures on their social media accounts over several weeks and months after their wedding. I will be featuring many of the posts and stunning pictures from their big day over the course of this year!

In today's #SnapshotSaturday post, I highlight this picture from Dan's (Smyers) Instagram account that he posted on September 13, 2017. The couple are seated on a couch at their wedding and reception venue, with their hands intertwined on Abby's lap, posing with beautiful smiles on their faces! The bride looked absolutely stunning in her white, lacy, long gown and the groom looked incredibly handsome in his black tuxedo.

"4 months. 👰🏻 🤵‍♂️," the groom captioned his Instagram post, marking their four month anniversary.

#FlashbackFriday: Dan's wife Abby Smyers shares her thoughts on the duos "Bigger Houses" album in Instagram post

#FlashbackFriday to when Dan + Shay released their Bigger Houses studio album on September 15, 2023. On that day, Dan Smyers' wife Abby was there to support both members of the duo in multiple ways, including on her social media accounts. In fact, she has been there supporting them since the beginning.

Abby took to her Instagram account the day the album came out to post some awesome pictures she had posed for while sitting on and standing in front of the miniature house that was used for the project's photoshoot, the "Bigger Houses" music video, and on the Heartbreak On The Map Tour. She included pictures of herself with her husband as well as one with Shay Mooney and his wife Hannah. She also talked about the hard work that her husband and Shay Mooney put into their fifth studio album and shared her excitement surrounding it.

She started the caption, "Bigger Houses" is OUT NOW!!!" "This is my favorite @danandshay record hands down. I am so proud of how hard these guys have worked to create this album but also how hard they have worked (and continue to work) on themselves as a duo and as individuals."

Lastly, the Dan + Shay producer's wife promoted the album, referencing one of its tracks called "Then Again."

"Listen to Bigger Houses right now + then again + again + again," Smyers ended the caption.

I took her advice and have listened to the album probably hundreds of times since it was released in 2023!

Below are two of my favorite pictures from Abby's September 15, 2023 Instagram post! I had the opportunity to meet her on October 12, 2014 while waiting in the meet and greet line after my first Dan + Shay concert. She was incredibly genuine and sweet and continues to be on social media to this day. Dan also embodies both of those qualities (and many others!), so I know their poses in these pictures are 100 percent genuine.

Shay also embodies those qualities. While I have not met his wife Hannah, I can tell from the episodes of her podcast Unexpected with Hannah Love that I have listened to, she is also just as sweet and genuine as her husband and Dan and Abby.

#ThrowbackThursday to this adorable picture of Shay Mooney and his oldest son Asher days before he turned one

#ThrowbackThursday to this adorable picture of Shay Mooney kissing his precious son Asher on the cheek during a cold winter day in Nashville back in 2018. He was days away from turning one when the photograph was posted on Mooney's Instagram account on January 16, 2018! I cannot believe that he turned eight this year! Their matching hats are so cute and the innocent, sweet look on Asher's face is truly priceless. 💙

I have been following Mooney's personal Instagram since I became a Dan + Shay fan in 2014. Asher is his oldest son and I have enjoyed all of the pictures and videos he has posted of him over the years. It has truly been a joy watching the Dan + Shay lead vocalist become such an amazing father to his four boys through those social media stories, pictures, and videos over the last eight years. Asher is the best big brother to (in order from oldest to youngest) Ames, Abram, and Aubrey.

I am very eager to hear Dan + Shay's new music in the coming weeks. I highly anticipate that during the songwriting sessions Mooney took part in for the project, that he wrote a lot of songs for their new album about his sweet wife Hannah and their four handsome sons. Whether he mentions their names directly or not, I will know that is singing about his beautiful family!

It's #WelcomeWednesday - This Or That Edition: Which do you like better? The piano version or acoustic guitar version of "I Should Probably Go To Bed"?

It is #WelcomeWednesday - This Or That Edition! Dan + Shay recorded the incredible original version of their number one song "I Should Probably Go To Bed" that can be found on their Good Things studio album. In addition, the duo released an outdoor acoustic guitar and an indoor studio piano version of the ballad.

I love both versions of the song equally, so I am not able to pick a favorite. However, I want my blog readers to sound off! Which version of "I Should Probably Go To Bed" do you like best? Please take a few moments to listen to the outdoor acoustic guitar version (top clip) and the indoor studio piano version (bottom clip) and let me know which one you like the most!

You can vote A for the outdoor acoustic guitar version or B for the indoor studio piano version in the comment section of this post or in the comment section of my @dailydashofdanandshay Instagram post! 😀🎵

Behind the scenes with Dan Smyers and Kelly Clarkson during "Keeping Score" recording session

Have you ever wondered what it is like to see Dan Smyers working as a producer working with another artist in the studio? Ever since I learned early on that he co-produces all of Dan + Shay's music, I have always wanted to see him in action working with Shay Mooney and some of the other artists they have collaborated with over the years.

My biggest dream is to one day be in the studio with Smyers and Mooney working together! They are two of the hardest workers I can think of and seeing the guys work their magic in the studio would be an experience that I would never forget.

While I wait for that opportunity to hopefully come my way one day, I have been able to watch Smyers be in producer mode a few times over the years in YouTube videos, one of them for the duos song "Keeping Score" featuring pop star Kelly Clarkson from their self-titled 2018 album. The clip was posted to their YouTube channel on April 6, 2019 and features Smyers in the studio working with Clarkson on her vocal parts for the song. It was cool watching the pop star and talk show host record her vocals in the booth! I also enjoyed the footage of the two artists bouncing ideas off one another for her vocals so that she could blend well with Mooney's parts, especially when the two of them come together during the inspiring tune.

Below is the clip of Smyers and Clarkson working together in the studio for my readers to enjoy!

Celebrating the two year anniversary of my first time seeing Dan + Shay in the arena setting

Exactly two years ago today I attended Dan + Shay's Heartbreak On The Map Tour stop at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI. This was my first time seeing the duo perform in the arena setting.

Although my friends and I were sitting up high in the upper bowl, I could still feel Dan + Shay's presence! They made every person in the venue feel important and seen, whether they were sitting in the front row or all the way in the nosebleed seats. They talked to the crowd in between songs, showing us how grateful they were to be playing a concert at such a large venue, thanking us for our support of their music and attending their shows over the years, and more.

I was standing most of the night, swaying back and forth and singing along to every song! I finally got to hear songs like "Tequila" and "Speechless" live for the first time! I have loved every concert that Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney have put on since the beginning. It has been such a pleasure to watch them blossom from year to year. It was so much fun to finally get to watch them live in the arena setting for the first time that night. It was a night that I will never forget!

I attended the March 14, 2024 show with six friends, but we did not take a group picture. However, I did get one with me and two of my friends, Sarah and Melly!

I cannot wait for Dan + Shay to announce their next tour in the coming weeks and hopefully will be able to attend my seventh concert in 2026 if everything works out!

Please scroll down on this post to see some of the other pictures I took at the concert, including one of the big screen behind the stage and a few with the plus sign stage that was turned different colors throughout the duos set! There is also a video at the very bottom of Dan + Shay performing their upbeat song "Heaven + Back", one of my favorites from their Bigger Houses album for my readers to enjoy!

#FlashbackFriday featuring a story behind the song "For The Both Of Us" by songwriter Andy Albert

Dan + Shay have collaborated with their friend and songwriter Andy Albert on their third, fourth, and fifth albums. He was a co-writer on "Bigger Houses" and "Island Time" from their self-titled project, to name a couple of songs. One of the ballads that he wrote with Dan Smyers and Jordan Reynolds (who the guys write songs with frequently) was "For The Both Of Us" from the duos "Bigger Houses" project.

#FlashbackFriday to when Albert took to his Instagram account (@andrewalbert) on September 8, 2023 when the song was released to tell his part of the story about the day when he asked his now wife's father to have her hand in marriage.

"I remember the day at two rivers dog park I asked @emilyalbert's dad Cliff for his blessing," Albert began the Instagram post caption. "I was so beyond nervous...we usually only walked 2 or so laps around the park before heading home. It took me til the 4th lap to work up the nerve to ask him. I remember every emotion and anticipation leading up to that moment. I figured it's such a rite of passage, it deserved its own song."

I remember having tears in my eyes the first few times I heard this song. Dan + Shay's pure vocals, the simple production, and the heartfelt, real lyrics got to me and still all do to this day. While I have never been married, so many people in my life are, including my parents, sister, relatives, and close friends. I became attached to the song, as I have attended many of their weddings and heard many of their proposal stories from over the years and was able to relate in that respect.

Stay tuned for future pieces that will include Albert's Instagram post commentary on some of the other songs he has written with the duo in the past. I respect Dan + Shay as songwriters and all of the other incredible people they have penned tunes with over the last decade, including veterans like Chris DeStefano and Liz Rose, and newer ones (who have been writing songs in Nashville for the last decade) like (Andy) Albert and (Jordan) Reynolds. These songwriters also have told stories behind the songs they penned in their Instagram posts that I will feature as well on my blog in the coming months.

When I get to read some of the background on a song's meaning from the songwriters themselves, it makes me appreciate the whole entity that much more!

#ThrowbackThursday to a 2015 Dan + Shay new music teaser! Plus information on new music coming soon from the duo!

Country music artists love to have fun by teasing new music on social media. This gets their fans excited and makes them curious about what is coming next. Dan + Shay have posted multiple teasers for new music, music videos, and other things over the years. For example, in today's #ThrowbackThursday picture, Dan Smyers posted a picture of himself standing and Shay Mooney sitting at the soundboard in the recording studio. "Be back soon...," Smyers captioned the December 14, 2015 Instagram post. Fast forward to February 5, 2016 when the duo released the first single "From The Ground Up" from their forthcoming Obsessed album.

As my blog readers know, I have been anticipating the first new music teaser from the duo since January. I have been patiently waiting since then. Last night while I was searching Instagram, I noticed Dan + Shay wiped all the past posts from their account. They have never done this before, so I think this means they are ready for a fresh start and I already know that with the new music they are about to release, this will be their best chapter yet. I cannot wait to share my thoughts on the new music with you as it starts to come out in the coming weeks!

This afternoon, Dan + Shay also changed the profile picture on their Instagram and Facebook accounts that features their iconic black plus sign on a white background. I am hoping they start to reveal more details about the new music tomorrow or for sure next week sometime! As soon as they do, I will share the news with my readers! 😊🎵

Nothing major has even happened yet and my excitement is already through the roof because I have been waiting so long to hear new music from the duos upcoming sixth studio album! I already know it will be well worth the wait. I do not know how they top themselves from album to album, but I know they are going to do it again by putting out their absolute best music yet!

#SnapshotSunday to this cool picture of Dan + Shay performing at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX on their "Heartbreak On The Map Tour"

When Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney met and decided to become a duo, they did not want to use the word "and" or an ampersand between their first names. Instead, they wanted to use the plus sign to represent the word "and", which has become a signature symbol in their duo name (of course!), song titles ("Heaven + Back" and "19 You + Me"), on social media when the guys put out new music, and when it comes to building one of the stages for their tours.

#SnapshotSunday to this cool picture of Dan + Shay performing on the red plus sign stage at their Heartbreak On The Map Tour stop in Fort Worth TX on March 9, 2024 that was featured in their Instagram post after the show. Looking at Smyers and Mooney sitting on stools performing in the center of the plus sign stage surrounded by fans, some of who had their cell phone flashlights on, you can tell that the guys really took in this incredible moment. When I saw them on this tour five days later on March 14 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI, the duo were in awe of the crowd's applause and showed their gratitude for us throughout the entire show.

Stay tuned for future posts that feature the plus sign stage turned different colors throughout the years on the duos tour and how it has been used many times when the the guys announce new music!

#SnapshotSaturday featuring the Smyers' family and their dogs on the road

When Dan + Shay are on out on the road playing concerts all over the country, Dan Smyers' wife Abby and their four rescue dogs will occasionally join him and Shay Mooney on the tour bus for a slew of dates.

Now that the duo mostly headline concert tours in arenas and amphitheaters, this means they typically are playing shows Thursday through Sunday. Early on in their careers through 2019, the guys would play at smaller venues and their shows would be on any day during the week or weekend. During those years, they would be gone on tour for a longer period of time before heading back home to Nashville for a break. I cannot even imagine what it is like being the spouse of a traveling artist and not seeing your significant other in person for long stretches of time.

When the duo embarked on their Heartbreak On The Map Tour playing arenas all over the United States in 2024, Abby and their rescue dogs joined Smyers on some of the stops, one of them at the Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center in Knoxville, TN on March 17, 2024. Sometimes she planned to be on the road with the guys, but other times that was not the case. Dan posted a few pictures on his personal Instagram account that day, looking very happy to see his wife in each one.

"A surprise visit from my girls🍓," Smyers captioned the post.

The second picture in the post for today's #SnapshotSaturday features the couple with two of their rescue dogs, Joy (left) and Macaroni (right) posing in front of one of Dan + Shay's tour trucks.

#FlashbackFriday to "Neon Cowgirl" from Dan + Shay's 2023 "Bigger Houses" album: A look at the talented people behind the song

Have you ever wondered how much time and effort and how many people it takes in the studio for a song on an artist's album to come together? The majority of the time, Dan + Shay keep all of these details behind closed doors until the songs are released. The duo spends a lot of extra time in the studio compared to some artists to ensure they are writing the best songs possible for their fans, recording the best take of their vocals and the instruments played on each song, and the overall producing, mixing, and mastering of every track to make sure each one has the best quality sound on the album, streaming services, and on the radio.

#FlashbackFriday to 2023 when the duo released the song "Neon Cowgirl" from their Bigger Houses album. Let's take a look at all of the talented people who were involved in the making of the 11th track from their last studio album! In my opinion, the majority of these individuals do not get enough credit for what they do behind the scenes. I want to give them the spotlight they deserve below!

"Neon Cowgirl" was written by Dan Smyers, Shay Mooney, and co-writers Zach Crowell Jessie Jo Dillon, and Ashley Gorley. Smyers produced the track alongside popular country music producer Scott Hendricks. In addition to the two producers, there are other people who help make the song sounds its best before it goes on a CD, iTunes, and streaming services, including Masterer Andrew Mendelson, Digital Editor Brian David Willis, Mixer Justin Niebank, Additional Mixer Drew Bollman, Engineer Jeff Balding, and Assistant Engineer Michael Water.

Now, let's get down to breaking down the performers on the track. Mooney provides the vocals while Smyers also sings vocals and does the programming. Next up are the talented musicians who really bring the song to life. On "Neon Cowgirl", Aubrey Haynie plays the fiddle, Derek Wells is on electric guitar, Ilya Toshinskiy on electric guitar, Paul Franklin on steel guitar, Gordon Mote playing the keyboards and piano, Jimmie Lee Sloas on bass, and Nir Z on drums and percussion.

All of the information listed above can be found under each song on Spotify and other streaming platforms, inside the album booklet, and on the Genius website https://genius.com/Dan-shay-neon-cowgirl-lyrics .

Below is the lyric video for "Neon Cowgirl"! I invite you to watch it and listen for all of the instruments I mentioned in the paragraph above!

I have always found what goes into the song making process to be very fascinating. Most of the time I listen to the vocals and instruments together. In the coming days and weeks on each of Dan + Shay's albums, I plan to focus on listening to the vocals the first time through and then focusing on the instruments the second time around. Finally, I will listen to both things together. I know I will hear things I haven't listened for before when going through these processes! This will also give me a deeper appreciation for all of the talented individuals who helped bring "Neon Cowgirl" to life!

#ThrowbackThursday to possibly Dan + Shay's first appearance on "The Bobby Bones Show"!

Bobby Bones, host of the national morning radio show The Bobby Bones Show and of The Bobbycast podcast, has been a champion for country music duo Dan + Shay and their music since day one. Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney have made countless appearances on his radio show to perform their songs acoustically and chat with the well-known host. Bones and his radio crew always have a lot of fun with their guests, which has made for some very memorable moments with the duo over the years. They have also appeared on his podcast individually and as a duo. Stay tuned for posts in the coming months when I profile these visits and include the YouTube video for your enjoyment!

For today's #ThrowbackThursday post, I am going all the way back to when Smyers and Mooney had only known one another for a little over year! They posted a picture on Instagram January 7, 2014 that featured Mooney, Bones, and Smyers posing in his studio during possibly their first appearance as a duo on his show.

The duo captioned it, "Had an amazing time on the @bobbybonesshow this morning! Thanks for tuning in!"

I became a fan of Dan + Shay a little under three months after this picture was taken. It is fun for me to go back to the beginning of their careers, see the pictures they posted, and feel the nostalgia from that time. They have both grown so much in the last decade in their vocals, Smyers' producing skills, songwriting, and performing.

It's #WelcomeWednesday: This Or That Favorite Lyric Edition

It is #WelcomeWednesday: This Or That Favorite Lyric Edition on my blog and I want to see as much participation as possible!

Dan + Shay have really blown me away with their songwriting skills over the past decade. Whether one of the guys was a co-writer on a song or both of them were involved, they have always come up with vivid lyrics that paint a picture in your mind.

Below are two of my favorite examples. The first set of lyrics are from "Show You Off" on the duos debut album Where It All Began album and the second set are from "Save Me The Trouble" on their latest album Bigger Houses. Both Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney were co-writers on each of these tunes. Their lyrics have really evolved and matured over the years!

Which lyrics are your favorite? Part of the first verse from "Show You Off"? Or part of the second verse from "Save Me The Trouble"?

A - "Show You Off" lyrics🎵"You're like a sugar-sweet kiss in the morning Sunshine pouring right into my window Cool drink of water in the summer Better than the other, mmm, side of the pillow."🎵

B - "Save Me The Trouble" lyrics🎵"Now the closer I get to the red on your lips I can feel myself falling all crazy 'Cause just a little kiss and I could never get you out of my mind So before you go wreck my whole life."🎵

There are a few ways that you can cast your vote!

1) You can type for the "Show You Off" lyrics or  for the "Save Me The Trouble" lyrics in the comment section of this blog post or the comment section of my @dailydashofdanandshay Instagram post https://www.instagram.com/dailydashofdanandshay OR
