When I became a fan of the duo in March, 2014, I got to see them live in concert five times over the first four years. On October 12, 2014, they performed at The Intersection in downtown Grand Rapids. Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney played the same venue a little over a year later on October 18, 2015. I felt very thankful to be able to see the guys twice in 2016, first on April 7th when they made a stop at the Grand Valley State University fieldhouse in Allendale, Michigan, which is my alma mater. Later that year, Dan + Shay opened up for Darius Rucker on his "Good for a Good Time Tour" and I got to see them when the tour stopped at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort on August 19th. The country music duo headlined bigger venues in 2017 and I got to attend their concert at 20 Monroe Live in downtown Grand Rapids on April 6th. After that, the duo came to Michigan a few times. Unfortunately, I was not able to travel to those shows. However, when Smyers and Mooney released their Bigger Houses album on September 15, 2023 and announced their "The Heartbreak On The Map Tour" later that year, my concert plans came into fruition again. After seven years of not being able to see the guys on tour, I was very excited to see them play an arena for the first time on March 14, 2024! They performed at Van Andel Arena in downtown Grand Rapids. I attended the concert with seven other friends. Three of them had seen Dan + Shay with me before, but the other four had not. Everyone was impressed with their set and we all had the best time!
The year 2024 was the last time the duo went on tour. Fast forward to 2026 when the guys are finally releasing new music for the first time in just under three years and they are going on tour again starting in September. I am very excited to announce that I will be attending one concert on the tour when it hits the brand new Acrisure Amphitheater in downtown Grand Rapids on October 2nd! I will be going with three friends who have not seen Dan + Shay in concert before. I have been playing their music for two of my friends over the last handful of years. Just over a year ago during a get together, my other friend listened to me talking about the guys and I played their music for her. She was immediately hooked and said that the next time they go on tour, we are getting tickets to see them! That time has finally come and October 2nd cannot get here soon enough! I cannot wait to watch my three friends experience a Dan + Shay show for the first time! In addition to that, I am very excited to sing along to their past hits, fan favorites, and new songs from their upcoming album that I know I will have memorized by then! I will definitely be wearing my Dan + Shay apparel and the cowgirl boots seen in the picture below!
