Dan and Abby Smyers' dog Ghost co-produces a Dan + Shay song in cute Instagram picture

When Dan + Shay are working on a new album, they are usually very quiet on social media until it is time to release the first single from the project. Some artists share sample clips of the new songs early on with their fans, but this is typically not the case for the CMA award-winning duo.

However, they are known for posting little fun teasers early on that do not give anything way about the new music that will come out in the future. On March 26, 2019, several months before their smash hit "10,000 Hours" with mega pop star Justin Bieber came out, Dan Smyers posted a cute picture of his rescue dog Ghost to his personal Instagram account. Standing on his hind legs on a chair and looking at the producer's (Smyers) laptop screen set up on a table in his and Abby Smyers' kitchen in Nashville, the couple's beautiful white dog appears to be hard at work mixing a new Dan + Shay song that had yet to be released to the fans!

"co-producer," Smyers captioned the post. 

"Just a little track guy 😍," his wife Abby wrote in the comment section.

#SnapshotSaturday featuring this awesome picture of country music rockstars Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney

When Dan + Shay go out on tour, the photographer who travels with them always takes incredibly cool shots of many things, including while the guys are onstage performing for big crowds.

In their Instagram post from September 1, 2024 that recapped the previous weekend tour stops in Arkansas and Texas, the duo included a collage of 10 pictures. While I love each one, my favorite shot would be the fourth photo in the collection, which will be the topic for today's #SnapshotSaturday post.

Dan Smyers is dressed in a black tank top with jeans and Shay Mooney is wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. The duo's producer (Smyers) looks like a total rockstar, as he is leaning backwards close to Mooney, has his black electric guitar covered with white polka dots attached to his body, passionately playing the instrument. Meanwhile, the lead vocalist (Mooney) has his legs spread apart, and the microphone pointed toward the crowd standing in the pit. What really gives off rockstar status for me is the fact that Mooney has his tongue sticking out! 🎸The final thing I love about this particular photo is that you can see their shadows on the stage. In my opinion, it is a pretty epic shot!

#FlashbackFriday: Hit Nashville songwriter Jessie Jo Dillon gushes over Dan + Shay song "Neon Cowgirl" she co-wrote in September, 2023 Instagram post

If you are a fan of country music, then you probably have heard a song co-written by Jesse Jo Dillon at some point. She has collaborated on songs recorded by award-winning group Old Dominion, current female vocalist Megan Moroney, sibling duo Brothers Osborne, and many other artists in today's wave of country music. 

In addition to those talented artists who I mentioned above, Dillon has also collaborated with country music duo Dan + Shay on their 2019 smash duet "10,000 Hours" that features mega pop star Justin Bieber. She also joined Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney in penning the song "Neon Cowgirl", the 11th track on their Bigger Houses project. #FlashbackFriday to when the talented lyricist took to her Instagram account on September 25, 2023 to share her thoughts on working with the duo to write this uplifting song. 

"this song makes me cry even though it says not to hehe...," Dillon began the caption. 

Later on in the caption, she gushed over her love for Dan + Shay and praised Smyers for his production on the track.

"i love @danandshay so, so much and it is very special to me to be a part of what i think is their best album yet! @dansmyers you produced the hell out of this and what an idea!"

"Neon Cowgirl" is one of the songs from the duo's last album that I can relate to in my own special way. I love the whole track, especially the chorus. My favorite part is, "It won't be like this forever Ain't no storm that you can't weather Neon cowgirl Don't you cry."

#ThrowbackThursday to Dan Smyers' September 18, 2021 Instagram post that recapped his hometown tour stop the night before

While Dan + Shay fans continue to patiently wait for them to announce their 2026 tour (I think it's coming in the next month or sooner!), #ThrowbackThurday to when Dan Smyers still had his long curly hair, and the Wexford, Pennsylvania native got the opportunity to play his hometown venue not too far down the road at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on the duo's first headlining arena tour. 

Smyers posted a joyous picture of himself with a guitar next to his partner Shay Mooney with their backs to the sold-out Pittsburgh crowd to his Instagram account on September 18, 2021, the day after the concert. He also wrote a heartfelt caption underneath.

"an actual dream come true: we sold out the hometown arena," Smyers began the caption. "pittsburgh, thank you for one of the most incredible nights of my entire life. it's been a (very) long journey getting to this point, but you've had my back every step of the way."

If you have read some of my past posts, I have written about the photos that Smyers has posted on his personal account as well as on the Dan + Shay Instagram account. He has a special way with words and always writes the most detailed, heartfelt captions and shows his gratitude toward the fans as well.

Country music duo Dan + Shay released their important, powerful new single "Say So" on April 3rd. I have been listening to it on a daily basis!

The duo, comprised of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, started teasing that the new music was coming in October, 2025. While I am absolutely loving their new track that is already making a difference in a lot of peoples lives, I am incredibly excited to hear more of the songs they have been working on over the last 12+ months. I know they will be releasing more details soon, but the exact date is not yet known by fans.

Dan + Shay Sunday Song Of The Day: "Glad You Exist" - A song that means so much to me

I am truly grateful for all of my wonderful immediate family members, relatives, and friends on a daily basis. I am also truly grateful for everyone who has been reading and interacting with my daily blog posts and my Instagram link posts. Your support really means the world to me! The one year anniversary of starting my Daily Dash Of Dan + Shay blog is coming up in May! I continue to enjoy writing posts about my favorite country music duo Dan + Shay! They are my biggest musical passion, and I am truly grateful for them and the incredible music that they make because it always puts a smile on my face!

Dan + Shay receive their 12th consecutive nomination for Duo of the Year At the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, seeking their fifth win in the category on May 17th

May is right around the corner, which means that the Academy of Country Music Awards will be here before we know it! The 61st edition of the annual ceremony will air live on the Amazon Prime Video application on May 17th at 8:00 pm EDT/7:00 pm CDT/5:00 pm PDT.

Country music duo Dan + Shay received their 12th consecutive nomination in the Duo of the Year category on Thursday April 9th via the ACM Awards Instagram account (@acmawards). Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney will head into the May 17th ACM Awards broadcast looking for their fifth win for Duo of the Year. They are up against legends Brooks & Dunn, current sibling duo Brothers Osborne, as well as Muscadine Bloodline, and Thelma & James. The guys previously took home the trophy in 2019, 2020, 2021, and most recently in 2024. Tune in to the 2026 broadcast to find out who will win in this category!

Whether they win or lose, Smyers and Mooney are always winners in my eyes. I am incredibly happy that this award show continues to recognize Dan + Shay as one of the top duos in the country music genre.

With their powerful new song "Say So" out in the world, I am predicting that the duo will get the opportunity to make their debut television performance of it on the ACM Awards stage. I expect to (hopefully) see news on additional performers added to the already impressive lineup in the next few weeks. If Dan + Shay are added, I will let you know!

#FlashbackFriday to 2025 when Shay and Hannah Mooney's second oldest son Ames turned 5

Shay and Hannah Mooney have been blessed with four handsome sons named Asher, Ames, Abram, and Aubrey. Ames, their second oldest, turned six on February 22, 2026! However, for today's #FlashbackFriday post, I am traveling back one year to when he turned five! Hannah, who you can follow on Instagram (@hannah.billingsley), posted a collage of cute pictures honoring Ames on his big day, along with a sweet caption.

"Our sweet big boy 🥺He's 5," (Hannah) Mooney began. "He's grown up so much in the last two years... he's become a big brother X2 and taken to it like a natural. He is precious, stubborn and funny. He loves all things red, fishing, and sleeping between mommy and daddy."

She finished the post by writing, "It is a privilege and blessing God trusted us with you...Ames, God has incredible things in store for you and your brothers."

Below is picture five from the collage of the birthday boy. Taken by Jessica Soderholm (@jessicasteddom on Instagram), this is one of my favorite shots of him from Hannah's post. I love everything about it. He is dressed in a button-down brown plaid jacket and jeans while standing in the leaves on an autumn day. Ames' blond hair, beautiful blue eyes, and wide, toothy smile all stand out to me. In addition, I adore his pose.

#ThrowbackThursday to May, 2018 when songwriter Jordan Reynolds shared his excitement about being involved with Dan + Shay's self-titled album via Instagram post

If you have heard Dan + Shay's hit songs "Tequila" and "Speechless" from their third album, their duet "10,000 Hours" with Justin Bieber from their fourth record Good Things, or even the track "For The Both Of Us" on their Bigger Houses album, a familiar Nashville songwriter is attached to each one. His name is Jordan Reynolds and he has also co-written several other songs on the duo's albums since 2018.

Speaking of 2018, #ThrowbackThursday to Reynolds' May 17, 2018 Instagram post that featured the track listing for Dan + Shay (the album) that was released a little over a month later on June 22nd. The hit songwriter showed his excitement for having his name tied to multiple songs on the project.

"Writing for this record was a dream," Reynolds began his caption. "Love these guys and proud of these six (6?!) songs. Go get you a copy or two."

He finished the post by using hashtags to show the six songs he had a part in writing.

"Tequila" and "Speechless" were multiple week number one hits at country radio. They were Reynold's first major successes with Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney. He also was involved with writing "All To Myself", the third number one hit from the duo's release. The other three songs that Reynolds penned were "Keeping Score" featuring Kelly Clarkson, "Make Or Break", and "What Keeps You Up At Night". They were not released to country radio, but each track sounds incredible in my opinion. Stay tuned for future posts when I break down all six of these extremely well-written songs, from the lyrics, to the production, vocals, and more!

I am anticipating that Reynolds will be a co-writer on several songs from Dan + Shay's forthcoming sixth studio album! I cannot wait for the track listing to be revealed soon, which should include the songwriters!

It's #WelcomeWednesday! Dan + Shay's new single "Say So" makes fantastic debut at over 100 country radio stations on add day! Read my post to find out how you can hep it get to number one!

Dan + Shay's new single "Say So" officially hit country radio on Monday. There were a total of 113 stations all over the United States, including Sirius XM The Highway, who added it, making it the most added song of the week! Seeing this yesterday made my heart very happy! 

Here is your assignment for today's #WelcomeWednesday post! Please take a look at the list of stations below from Dan + Shay's Instagram story on Tuesday to find out if your local station added the song this week! If they did, make sure to tune in when you can to hear the song at some point during the week! If they did not, make sure to call, text, e-mail, or message your local station on social media and tell them you want to hear "Say So"! 

My local country stations (WBCT and WTNR) have not added the powerful song yet, but I will do my part to show them how much I want to hear it. I know they will add it, hopefully in the next few weeks! 

This track has such an important message that so many people need to hear. I have a feeling more stations will add it at a steady pace over the next several weeks. As more stations add it to their playlists, "Say So" will start working its way to the number one spot on the country radio chart in the next several months!

#SnapshotSaturday featuring massive electronic billboard in Times Square promoting Dan + Shay's new single "Say So"

On release day of their new single "Say So", Dan + Shay shared many cool shots of who was advertising it in Times Square via their Instagram story. YouTube, one of the places where you can find their new song, upcoming new releases, past tracks, and so much more, promoted the single art cover in a big way for the duo in New York City on Friday. I am featuring this screenshot for my #SnapshotSaturday post.

"LOVE THIS mega billboard in Times Square thank you @youtube," Dan + Shay captioned the story.

I am already imagining all of the people in such a massive city like New York City who have seen the billboard and listened to the song. Thinking about that warms my heart. This powerful track needs to be shared everywhere. I will be showing it a lot of love on my blog. 

I cannot wait to watch the impact it continues to make for so many people in the coming days, weeks, months, and even years. Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney have always put out meaningful songs, but I think "Say So" is the most meaningful, important one of their career so far.

Dan + Shay to join "iHeartCountry House Party" to talk about the meaning of new, powerful song "Say So" and much more

Country music duo Dan + Shay are already starting to make the rounds to do interviews about their new, powerful song "Say So". On Friday morning, the duo appeared on "The Bobby Bones Show" to catch up with the national country radio. They talked about their new single and so much more. Stay tuned for a post in the next week with key points from that interview.

You can either listen to the show tonight when it airs or re-watch it at a later time. I will be listening later tonight or tomorrow sometime, as I have other obligations coming up when it airs. Dan + Shay always open up their hearts and souls in these interviews like they do in their songwriting. #FlashbackFriday to me posing for a picture in one of my Dan + Shay t-shirts, dark jeans, and new cowgirl boots prior to seeing my favorite country music duo for the sixth time on March 14, 2024. I bought my first pair of cowgirl boots specifically for the concert. Since then, I have also worn them a few other times when going out with friends. I will most likely be wearing them again if I get the opportunity to see Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney in concert later this year.

Dan + Shay's new vulnerable song "Say So" is already making waves after its first day out in the world

Country music duo Dan + Shay have officially released their latest single "Say So" into the world. The duo's new vulnerable track that was written about a friend who they lost to suicide in 2025 (more on that in my posts over the next few days), and sends a powerful message, is already making waves in its first 24 hours out on iTunes, streaming services like Spotify and YouTube, as well as on country radio. 

The song is currently sitting at number 23 on the iTunes All Genre chart and number 3 on the iTunes country chart. I have been streaming it on Spotify for a portion of the day. The song premiered on iHeart Country Radio stations all over the United States throughout the day, and I heard it multiple times on my local station B93.7 FM. Also, I have already seen numerous comments on the duo's social media posts about how listening to the song is helping them, someone they know going through a tough time, or someone they lost in the past from mental health struggles.

While you might initially think it is a sad song because it covers the topic of suicide, after the first verse (which addresses what happened), the remainder of the lyrics have a hopeful message to help lift anyone up who might be going through a hard time, whether they are struggling with anxiety, depression, or any other emotional stage.

Stay tuned for posts in the next several days surrounding this incredibly important song that I know is going to make its way up the country radio chart and will be the duo's 12th number one hit later this year. But more importantly, I know it is going to help lift a lot of people up who are struggling with their mental health.

#ThrowbackThursday to when I bought Dan + Shay's third self-titled album and had my picture taken with it

When Dan + Shay released their first three studio albums, it was a tradition for me to buy a physical copy of each one at the store. I downloaded the digital version of each one on iTunes so I would have a way to listen to them at midnight the day they were released, but wanted to make sure I had a physical copy of each project because their music means the absolute world to me. I think that I bought the self-titled album on release day, but I think it took me some time to get to the store to purchase their Where It All Began and Obsessed albums. 

#ThrowbackThursday to June 22, 2018 when I went out to lunch with one of my closest friends and then stopped at the store to purchase a copy of Dan + Shay's third project. I had her take an obligatory picture of me with their new album! While you cannot see the full thing because my fleece was zipped up, I was wearing my Dan + Shay T-shirt from their 2014 Where It All Began Tour!

                                         

I have not had a chance to meet the duo in person since 2015, but if I get the opportunity to meet them at a concert this year (I hope it happens because it has been too long!), I want them to sign their second album Obsessed and the third album in my picture below. They were both incredibly kind and signed their first album for me during the post-show meet and greet in 2014.

For their fourth and fifth album releases Good Things and Bigger Houses), the duo offered packages on their website to buy a signed copy of the CD along with some other special items, which meant that I did not go to the store to buy an additional copy of each one. As long as they were signed, I was very happy!

I do miss going to the store and getting my hands on a physical copy of the album, so there is a possibility that I will purchase Dan + Shay's forthcoming sixth studio album at the store on release day or shortly thereafter!

I grew up listening to CD's and had a massive collection of them in the desk drawers in my bedroom. However, in the last few years, I went through my collection and donated the majority of them. Because Dan + Shay's music will always mean the world to me, so there was no question I was going to donate their albums. I have them displayed on a book shelf now. I kept a few of my other CD's from the past as well.

I am going to dust off one of my old CD players that I kept to play their new record when it comes out! While I wait for that, I will play their previous albums on it too. While I love streaming their music on Spotify now because it is very convenient, I miss the old days of listening to all of my music on a CD player! I cannot wait to get nostalgic and go back to those days soon!

It's #WelcomeWednesday! How excited are you to hear new Dan + Shay music very soon?

It is #WelcomeWedneday! Dan + Shay will release their brand new single "Say So" on Thursday at 11 pm CT. The duo have been working incredibly hard over the past year to create what I know will be their best music to date, and I cannot wait to hear the new powerful single very soon, and more new music to come as well! Whether additional songs will be released tomorrow or later, only time will tell! I will keep you posted on any updates regarding that.

On a scale of 1-10, my excitement to hear what they have been working so hard on is definitely at the 10 level, actually even higher than 10 if that is possible!

Dan + Shay share dramatic, intense music video teaser clip via social media on Monday, provide explanation in handwritten note on Tuesday

If you have ever seen a Dan + Shay music video, some of them have felt like you're watching a movie. "Tequila" and "How Not To" are two examples of clips that had the cinematic touch to them. Stay tuned for a future posts where I run down the storylines of those two music videos.

While the two songs I mentioned above had music videos like that felt like you were watching a movie, I think the one that is to accompany the duo's new song "Say So", which will be released on Thursday at 11 pm CT, will be their most dramatic, intense clip yet.

In the 17 second teaser clip Dan + Shay shared via social media and on their YouTube channel Monday, some incredibly intense, dramatic scenes are shown of Shay Mooney with a tear running down his face, then being arrested and handcuffed. Later on, he is seen appearing in the court room appearing as the defendant. Meanwhile, earlier in the video, Dan Smyers is dressed in a suit and tie, attending a funeral at a church. In between, a casket is set down at the church, possibly being lowered by Mooney and a couple of other people. I cannot wait to put all of the pieces together very soon when I view the music video for the first time.

I had so many questions after watching the clip. I wondered if only this part of it was dramatic, emotional, and intense, but the rest of the music video, premiering at 11 pm CT Thursday, would be light and happy. That thought came into my head based on some of the teasers the guys have featured in the past.

My questions about the clip, the new song, and much more were all answered on Tuesday morning when Dan + Shay shared a handwritten note by Dan Smyers on social media and via their texting phone number Tuesday morning. It turns out the entire music video will be full of raw emotion, drama, and intensity.

"This song is a true story about a friend we lost not long ago, and we hope it offers strength and encouragement to anyone going through a tough time," Smyers began. "The subject matter is heavy, it is serious, it is timely, and it is something we feel is important to talk about."

He went on to write about the nature of the music video.

"We also worked hard to create our most powerful music video yet," Smyers wrote.

Tomorrow night cannot get here fast enough. Make sure you grab a box of tissues because I already can feel we will be in for an emotional rollercoaster ride listening to this new song and watching the work of art that is the music video.
