When country music duo Dan + Shay came back to social media on October 1 with an update video, they talked about a handful of things coming up between that point through the end of 2025 and what will be happening in 2026. One of the items on their list was releasing another original Christmas tune before the end of the year.
On November 1, the duo changed their social media profile pictures to the cover of their latest studio project, It's Officially Christmas: The Double Album, with both guys dressed for the holiday, with Dan Smyers in a sharp-looking green suit from head to toe and Mooney in a sharp-looking red suit from head to toe. The duos producer (Smyers) is sitting on a checkered red and black chair, looking ahead, while Mooney is sitting on the arm of the chair, looking to the right. They also changed their cover photo to the same shot along with information on their double Christmas album.
Yesterday, the guys posted a short video titled "IT'S OFFICIALLY CHRISTMAS🎄" to their social media pages and YouTube channel Shorts page. In the clip, Mooney is seen arriving at Smyers' home. He is greeted by the Smyers' dog, Macaroni as well as Dan himself at the front door. On the screen is the caption, "He doesn't know it yet, but he's about to setup a Christmas tree." In the video, the duo are seen setting up the very tall Christmas tree, both of them getting on a ladder to add the next layer until it was all put up. At the end, Smyers is seen turning on the tree's lights and then he gave Mooney a hand shake and half hug.
When I saw the clip yesterday, I had a feeling that Dan + Shay might be announcing their new original Christmas single today at some point. I was right! They posted a short clip from the music video from their first original holiday song "Take Me Home For Christmas" that was released on November 6, 2020. It features both guys and their entire families. The duo wrote a caption underneath the video to celebrate the occasion and to share some exciting news.
"Today is the 5 year anniversary of Take Me Home For Christmas!", Dan + Shay wrote on their Facebook and Instagram post. "It was the first original Christmas song we ever wrote and recorded, and paved the way for what turned into a double album. Thank y'all for loving this song as much as we do, and making it part of your holiday traditions year after year. We just might have to release another Christmas song to celebrate, whatya say?🎄"
In the post comments, Dan Smyers created more excitement for the fans to hear the new track very soon!
"If this post gets 500 shares, we will release a new Christmas song tonight 🎅🏻," Smyers wrote under the Facebook and Instagram post.
I cannot see the number of shares the posts have received so far, but I am guessing they each have 500+ already!
The song title has not been revealed yet, but will be soon! And I will share my review on the new holiday tune in the next few days, so be on the lookout for that! I cannot wait for the song name to be revealed and to put it on repeat starting at midnight EDT. If you're in the central time zone, you can listen to the song starting at 11 pm CDT tonight!
