Dan + Shay have had some history with the award-winning country music group, some of which was referenced in my blog post from September 11, including being songwriters on some of their tracks, touring with the band, covering their hit "Yours If You Want It" in the short acoustic video at the end of this post, performing their chart-topper "I Like The Sound Of That" on tour in 2016 and 2017, a song that Shay Mooney had a hand in writing, and much more! Be on the lookout for future posts where I dive deeper into the duos relationship with Rascal Flatts.
In the "Yours If You Want It" clip, the duo were seen sitting on a couch outside of a room at their record label Warner Music Nashville. They sailed through the first verse of the tune and then went into the chorus. The song is about a girl getting everything she wants, including "this wildflower from the neighbor's yard" and "this hand in my pocket". With a combination of Mooney's clear, crisp, vocals and Dan Smyers' magical harmonies and flawless acoustic guitar playing, their rendition of the fun love song was light and upbeat.
Once again this week I am going to let my blog readers and social media followers choose which Dan + Shay cover I write about next Sunday. Your options are "Record Year" by Eric Church, "Sleep Without You" by Brett Young, "Burning House" by Cam, or "Marry Me" by Thomas Rhett!
In the comment section of this post, please type in the song title you want me to write about next week! You can also head over to my Daily Dash Of Dan + Shay Facebook page and Instagram page to vote in the poll that I will post tomorrow!
Stay tuned for other opportunities where you can help decide on what I write about!
Below is the video clip of Dan + Shay covering "Yours If You Want It" from January 18, 2017 for you to enjoy, courtesy of the duos YouTube channel!
My vote is “Burning House” by Cam :)
