Now that the track has been out for a couple of weeks, the guys have been promoting it through short videos on their social media accounts and YouTube channel. One of the videos that they posted on October 29 titled "Well, we tried... ", featured both artists sitting next to one another. They are seen peacefully listening to themselves sing the first part of the chorus for the final time. Written on the screen is the caption "POV (Point of view) : trying to remain calm when all you want to do is scream this chorus at the top of your lungs."
Once they hit the "I go back to December" section, Smyers and Mooney are now fully invested into the rest of the chorus. They are seen mouthing the words and fully showing their emotions by moving their bodies back and forth, including their hands. It looks like they are having a jam session to the sad ballad, with lyrics that include "It turns out freedom ain't nothin' but missin' you Wishin' I'd realized what I had when you were mine."
When I first saw the video and did not have the sound on, I thought the duo were either vocalizing the words in a hip-hop or rap version of the song. I did not know what was actually happening until I turned on the sound and read the caption!
Be on the lookout next week for my reaction to and review of another video that the guys posted earlier this week!
