One year before I found Dan + Shay and their music, I was (and still am!) a massive fan of their Warner Music Nashville label mate, Brett Eldredge. I love his pure, gravelly voice, and his storytelling songwriting skills. From watching him in interviews and performing onstage over the years. Eldredge seems like a genuine, humble guy just like Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney. I still listen to his albums today that are packed with his heart and soul, another way that he resembles my favorite duo’s music.
So, when Dan + Shay posted a short cover of them singing Eldredge’s upbeat hit “Beat Of The Music” from his debut Bring You back album on December 13, 2016, I was excited to hear it! I love Eldredge’s vocals on the number one track because he really got to show off his chops on it.
This is yet another one when I wish they would post their full rendition of the song because I know it would blow me away! As always, Mooney’s vocals and Smyers’ harmonies impressed me as they sang the chorus.
I hope Dan + Shay cover more of Eldredge’s songs in the future, specifically “Lose My Mind”. I would love to hear Mooney’s insane vocals on the song that takes you on a rollercoaster ride from start to finish!
