As Dan + Shay get ready to release new music in the coming weeks, I thought it would be fun to look back at a memory from their 2023 Bigger Houses era that I posted about on my @stacysaba4 Instagram account on this #FlashbackFriday!
On July 13, 2023, the duo announced that their Bigger Houses album would be out in the world on September 15 via their official @danandshay Instagram account. Fans could pre-order the new project starting the next day on July 14.
When I got on Spotify and saw all 12 song titles, I started contemplating what each one might be about like I always do. One title that caught my attention was "We Should Get Married". It is track 10 of 12 on the album and I thought it was going to be a romantic, slow, sweet song about the guys discussing with their girlfriends at the time different reasons why they wanted to get married someday. I thought it would have similar vibes like in their past number one hits "From The Ground Up" and "Speechless". I was completely wrong, as the guys decided to take this one for a crazy ride of its own. While its lyrics and production were totally different than I had pictured, I absolutely loved the song and still do to this day!
"We Should Get Married" was one of the tracks that came out pre-album release on August 25, 2023. I listened to the song on repeat several times into the wee hours of the morning. It took me on a crazy rollercoaster ride each time. The next day I took to my Instagram account to write my thoughts on the new song.
"I was not expecting these lyrics or the production when I originally envisioned the song title,", I wrote. "It is crazy, wild, and pretty much the best out of left field, unexpected song @dansmyers and @shaymooney have ever put out and I am here for all of it!!! 😍👰🏻🤵🏻💒💍🍾🎶"
