Dan + Shay Hit More East Coast And Southern Country Radio Stations To Promote Debut Single "19 You + Me" In Second "Road To Radio" YouTube Video

If you read my post on August 27, 2025, you may remember me talking about the first video from Dan + Shay's "Road To Radio" YouTube series toward the end of 2013. From visiting country radio stations in Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, to seeing their tour bus for the first time, it was an exciting time for the new duo to travel all over the country promoting their debut single "19 You + Me".

In week two of the YouTube video series, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney visited more radio stations on the East coast and then made their way down to a couple of the southern states.

The 5:45 minute clip kicks off with the duo standing behind a green screen. They are working on introducing themselves to the stations. Joking, they said their names and announced there would be shows at places like The Grand Canyon and Stonehenge, as the landmarks popped up behind them on the green screen. It was made clear that these guys do not take themselves too seriously when they are out and about having fun!

The first stop is in Bloomsburg, PA where the new duo played a show at a fair with country music Hunter Hayes. The guys are seen warming up their vocals outside their tour bus and doing soundcheck on the stage before their set. Shay Mooney asked someone to take a picture of him looking off into the sunset. He looked the wrong way and the other person says, "The sunset is behind you." Mooney laughed and said "Ok." Next, footage is shown of the duo singing their debut single "19 You + Me" to the crowd during their acoustic set.

Up next, Dan Smyers and Mooney are in Richmond, VA. They played "19 You + Me" for the staff at K95.3 (WKHK). They received applause from the staff when they finished their performance. Smyers and Mooney got to record themselves saying their names and introducing their song with the disc jokey that would be played when the tune came on the station.

While riding on their bus in Virginia, the duo heard their debut single on 97.3 The Eagle (WKH) in Norfolk. Then, footage was shown of the guys playing an acoustic show at The Eagle Nest. Mooney introduced himself, followed by Dan. "We got very creative with our band name," Mooney said to the audience, laughing.

As they continued to drive through Norfolk, VA, no footage from the radio station visit at US106.1 (WUSH) is shown, although the station call letters appeared on the screen.. However, the guys are sitting on the bus singing "19 You + Me" acoustically. Then, Mooney is seen in the shower, fully dressed, warming up his vocals. Smyers walked by. Mooney exclaims, "How Dare you!" "Guys, this is not what it looks like," the lead vocalist said.

More footage at the radio station visits and small acoustic shows they played for the staff are featured in the "Road To Radio" (Week 2) clip at multiple country radio stations in Greenville, SC and Charlotte, NC. They also hit stations in Greensboro and Fayetteville, NC, Atlanta, GA, and finished up in Chattanooga, TN.

It was a lot of fun for me to go back to watch this video and write about it. Smyers and Mooney have both come so far since 2013, before I knew who they were. I am very happy that they documented this whole tour. Stay tuned for the week three video of the series in the coming weeks!
