Dan + Shay Blow Me Away With Brief Cover Of Chris Stapleton's Emotional Heartbreak Hit "Either Way"

Dan + Shay and fellow country artist Chris Stapleton have a few things in common. They are both phenomenal singers, Smyers, Mooney, and Stapleton have had crossover hits (when their country song also hits pop radio, for example), and the duo and the award-winning male artist each have incredible, strong songwriting skills, writing tunes for themselves and for other artists. The last major resemblance is that Smyers co-produces all of Dan + Shay's music, mostly with Scott Hendricks, while Stapleton does the same, mostly alongside Dave Cobb.

So when the duo posted a brief cover of themselves singing the award-winning male artists hit "Either Way" on their YouTube channel on August 4, 2017, I knew Mooney's lead vocals and Smyers' harmony would blow me away, and they did more than that. Sitting on a couch on their bus while performing the raw, emotional song's chorus about love that has died in a relationship, Mooney told the heartbreaking, sad story with his facial expressions, beautiful voice, and hand motions, while Smyers told it with his facial expressions, gorgeous harmonies, and the way he played his guitar.

If you have read my past posts about these short covers that the duo have done throughout the years, I always end them by writing that they left me wanting to hear a full version of the song. This performance of "Either Way" was beyond amazing, yet way too short, so I am going to petition that Dan + Shay need to put out a full version of this song in the near future! It has to happen! Listening to Mooney's smooth vocals alongside Smyers' flawless harmony, if they put a full version of this tune out, I would absolutely have it on repeat for days. That is how good I know it would be.
