Today's post is centered around a video that Nashville XP posted on their YouTube channel of the duo acoustically performing "Her, The Kids, And Jesus", an unreleased song that has not been recorded yet, according to Dan Smyers at the end of the clip.
A story about his wife, their kids, and Jesus, the three most important people in his life, I have a feeling that Shay Mooney had a hand in writing this track based on the lyrics I have heard so far. These include, "She calls me love They call me daddy He'll call me up when my days are done, I don't deserve what I've been given, I've been blessed in more ways than one."
I know we do not get to see all of the action Mooney has with his wife and kids on a daily basis. They have a mix of good and bad days like everyone else. However, from the pictures and videos I've seen on his Instagram account and on his wife Hannah's throughout the year, I can tell that he is a present, loving husband to Hannah and a present, loving father to his four precious boys, Asher, Ames, Abram, and Aubrey. I could add on multiple adjectives to Mooney's rolls as a husband and as a father.
I truly hope Dan + Shay record this track and put it on a future album. It sounds like a huge hit to me. Only having heard the first verse and chorus so far via the YouTube clip multiple times, "Her, The Kids, And Jesus" has brought me to cry happy tears. While I am not a parent, I am able to connect with the song, thinking about my own parents who raised me, Mooney as a father, and my friends who are mothers raising their own families.
Below is the clip of the duo singing their unreleased song today at La La Land Kind Cafe in Nashville courtesy of Nashville XP's YouTube channel for you to enjoy!
